Submission Guidelines

What is IRAAL PG SIG Blog?

It is a  monthly/bi-monthly publication of Irish Association for Applied Linguistics Special Interest Group Postgraduate Special Interest Group (IRAAL PG SIG). This is established to publish a brief write-up around the applied linguistics (AL) contributed by students, independent researchers or faculties.  

Aims

  • to publish book and article reviews related to AL
  • to publish brief write-ups related to any studies conducted in applied linguistics.

Before you submit, please read the following information carefully. 

About a write-up

It can be a brief write-up related to any recent studies conducted around applied linguistics or a book/article review. A write-up can vary in length from 1500 to 3000 words and will be posted monthly/bimonthly. For the sample, please visit the blog: https://iraalpgsig.home.blog. You will also be able to download the article in a pdf form. Click here to get the sample pdf. 

The write up should be clear and well-organized as well as it should add value to the area he or she is dealing with in his/her write-up.

It should be your original publication. In case part of it is published elsewhere, you should clearly acknowledge the sources where it got published in a note at the bottom of your article.

Review and publication process

Any two editors of this blog will review and give you feedback if they find that your article is worth publishing on this platform. On the basis of their reviews, you are required to revise and re-submit your article. The editor will go through your article and might ask you to revise again if there are still some issues to consider. After your final revision, your article will be published online. The minimum time that will take to appear on this platform after you submit is two months from the first submission date. 

Your write-up should include the following components 

Title: Sentence Case (maximum 15 words)

Abstract: Maximum 200 words 

Keywords: 3 to 5 word

Main Text : Times New Roman, 12 Font, 1.5  spacing

References : Follow the APA format (7th edition). Visit this site to get detail information on APA 7th edition.

 

Format in detail:

Title: Sentence case , Times New Roman, 14 Point , bold

Abstract: Times New Roman, 11 point, italic, 1.25 indentation

Keywords:  Times New Roman, 12 point, 1.25 indentation, the first letter of the first word  and proper nouns are capital and all words are followed by comma

Heading 1:  Times New Roman, 12 point, bold, the first letter of the first word  and proper nouns are capital (such as, introduction, methodology, discussion, conclusion, etc.)

Heading 2:  Times New Roman, 12 point, bold, italic, the first letter of the first word  and proper nouns are capital

Heading 3: Times New Roman, 12 point, bold, italic, the first letter of the first word  and proper nouns are capital. Begin the paragraph after the period of this heading. 

Running text: Times New Roman, 12 Font, 1.5  spacing

Direct quotes (if more than 40 words, or two sentences or longer): Times New Roman, 11 point, 1.25 indentation 

Table Heading: Times New Roman, 12 point, Center (e.g, Table 1. Type your title here.)

Title should be at the center.

Figure Heading: Times New Roman, 12 point, Center (e.g, Figure 1. Type your title here.)

Figure should be at the center.

References: Times New Roman, 12 Font, 1.5  spacing, 1.25 hanging indentation (second and other lines of the same reference)

Tables and figures have to be submitted as separate jpeg, png or pdf files with their corresponding table or figure numbers. 

About the author: Times New Roman, 12 Font, 1.5  spacing, Full name on the bold face.
